Great turn out today despite the freezing cold conditions and some excellent times by many of the riders given the conditions.

Great to see the fastest two riders overall today in both the women’s and men’s competitions being our youngest participants and shows what talent they both have. So congratulations to both Hollie (13) and Lewis (14) (Lichfield CCC). Congratulations also to Keri (Brereton Wheelers) and Matt (Wallasll RC) who were the fastest adults.

Thank to Sue and Alastair for their very kind hospitality, and to all our helpers April, Mark, Ade, Phil, Christine, Don and Paul.

New Year Day TT #Stafford Road Club

Do not forget Stafford Road Club will be hosting it annual New Years Day TT which starts at 11 am on the K7/5 course from Pottal Pool roundabout A34, 5 miles south of Stafford, everyone welcome.

Entry fee is £3/rider signing on is at the start and will be open from 10:30. Min age is 12yrs, no max age : )

Forecast looks good at the moment so should be great way to get your 2016 season off to a flying start

Congratulations to all the Stafford RC riders who took part in events this year and the excellent results each of them achieved. The number of participants was better than ever with a few new riders taking part in each discipline and hopefully they all caught the ‘racing bug’ and will be racing again in 2016.

Each year the Stafford RC awards prizes for a number of road race and time trial competitions plus our club personality and this year’s worthy winners are shown below.

Just looking through the latest addition of the VTTA (Veterans Time Trial Association) newsletter where they give district roundup of what’s been happening and came across an account of these two chaps from the Wessex district and was gob smacked to see the times they were both producing at the age of 69 and 71.

As any good coach will tell you it will take about 10 years for ‘most’ to reach their full potential so by my reckoning, even if you are only just getting into the sport of cycling at the age of 60 look how fast you could be going by your 70th Birthday ……………….. Whoooooooo

Wessex – Peter Warhurst report

“I had in mind listing the Group age record breakers in alphabetical order but must give pride of place to 69 year old Alan Emmott’s 100 miles in 4:17:28, over 11 minutes inside our current record. Although not records, Alan’s rides this year at 25 (58:23) and 10 (23:04) also well worth of a mention.

Now at 71 years old Terry Icke with four group records so far this time around; 2:01:56 followed by 2:00:14 at 50 miles, 55:28 at 25 miles and 21:32 and 21:19 at 10 miles.
