Last weeks race round up

Another successful week for our road racers with Andy Prince taking 2^nd in his age group TLI race on Tuesday.   Gavin H was in the same race and finished safely in the bunch.   Ade Robinson was next to pick up points finishing 9^th in the sprint, sadly he was blocked in the last 50m by a rider going backwards but still got a placing and some more valuable points in the road race completion and the Charlie Bettley Vet Competition.  John Charter was also riding and finished safe in his race within the main group.

The track season is also now underway and Dave Smith has had some good results with a 6th in the 500-metre Handicap, 1st in the Team Sprint with Steve Cronshaw (Brooks Cycles), 8th in the Scratch Race all at the Newcastle tack meeting and 4th in the Keirin at Manchester Velodrome.

Time trailing over the weekend was blown away and with gusts of up to 40mph Annis, Susan and Mathew who were due to ride on the A50 Saturday and Sue Smith in Stratford all sent their apologies as well as  Alastair who was due to race on  A1 early Sunday morning.  April and Melvyn Lewis however braved the elements and rode in the K33/10 event near Strafford.  All finished with respectable times despite the wind.  I saw one post on the timetrial forum from someone who rode and summed up the day perfectly I thought “That was one the worst day of my life on a bike truly awful, thank god it didn’t rain…….but well done to everyone from Stratford CC for putting the event on”

Good news though the forecasts is for warmer weather next week and the winds are due to drop so good luck to all our riders taking part in events this coming week.
