It was welcome back to the Youth Section Christmas Party, which had been missing from the calendar for one particular reason over the last few years!! We had a great turnout for event, which included the presentation of awards for the year, a disco, buffet and raffle.

We would like to thank the following for the donation of prizes, which went down a storm with our riders:

We did a bit of an overview of what we have done for 2022 as a club, which includes:

  • 64 sessions over the year (with potential for 3 more)
  • 22 Races attended, of which one we were joint hosts with British Cycling at Birches Valley
  • One of our biggest led rides to the Commonwealth Game to watch MTB races, which involved around 30 riders taking part
  • Trained two new Level 1 Coaches (Carl and Steve)
  • Trained one new Level 2 Coach (Terry)
  • Trained one new Level 2 MTB Coach (Nick)
  • We now have “B.O.B.”, our Big Orange Box gazebo, which we try to get to all the races and sessions if the weather is going to be bad
  • 2 new Feather Flags, to promote the club
  • Lots of new racers from the club, which is great to see. From only two last year, to at one race this year, 12 riders taking part and regularly we are close to this attending!
  • We won the Club Competition for the Midlands XC, where we had 2 riders finish in First, 1 in Second, 1 in Third and 5 riders just missing out on a top 3 finish
  • We had a rider attend the MTB Nationals, who came 20th out of 65 riders in his first year
  • We currently have 12 riders competing in the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League

For our awards, the following riders came away with trophies for the next 12 months:

Most Improved Rider: Mia & Charlie
Racer: Chloe & Callum
Rubber Side Up: Ruby
Bike Breaker: Joe

Following on from the awards, we tucked into the buffet and then onto the raffle.

After much deliberation over the prizes, finally we got the party started and danced the night away (well some of us!!)
