The RTTC Time Trial series event hosted by Stafford Road Club on Sunday 6 April attracted Britain’s top riders and despite the windy conditions on a hilly course, nothing could slow them.
The first riders off where the Paracyclists and this competition was won by the National Champion Rik Waddon (Para T-Paracycling Team) in 54:44.

Then came the vets with local rider Scott Westwood (Walsall RC) setting a personal best of 49:45 and winning that competition.
In the vets on target time Peter Greenwood (Team Swift) now age 62 clocking in with a time of 53:20 and took over 3 min out of his nearest rival in this competition and finished 26th overall, showing clearly that age just does not slow you when it comes to time trialing.

Then it was the women’s turn and records began to tumble. Annis Moore (Stafford RC) the current record holder was the 5th rider off and finished just 21 second short of her record ride. But then the favourites began to finish bettering many of the men’s time with Anna Turvey (Tyneside Vagabonds CC) been the best on the day with a time of 51:39 beating National champion Joanna Rowsell (Wiggle Honda Women’s Pro Cycling team) into second place with a 9 second lead.

Susan Semple event organiser said “it was a great day as everything went to plan, the rain held off and the riders made easy work of the tough local course with some testing climbs. The records set today were astounding and will take some beating. Hopefully we can now hold another event next year which will attract such a quality field of riders and who knows, with some more clement weather anything is possible. Special thanks to the 18 Stafford Road Club members who marshalled the course, took on official roles as time keepers and pusher offers and ran the HQ, without them none of this would have been possible”
