Go-Ride Coaching – Saturday 15th April

There will be no Go-Ride Coaching taking place on Saturday 15th April.

 

Please keep practising the manual and powered front wheel lifts.  Also, do not neglect the fundamentals of movement.

Podium place for Evie Strachan

Round one of the Chase Adventure series (Cannock Winter MTB Classic) hosted by Run and Ride took place on Sunday 26th Feb. There were a number of Stafford Road Club youth riders taking part and they all performed extremely well and were a credit to the club. In particular The current holder of the Dave Smith Trophy for girls, Evie Strachan took second place in her category, so a big well done to her and all the other riders. keep up the good work.

Go-Ride Coaching Saturday 18th Feb

Due to the coaches attending a British Cycling conference, no coaching will take place on Saturday 18th February.  We hope to return on Saturday 25th February, so we look forward to seeing a full session on that date.

Saturday 11th February, Go-Ride Coaching is cancelled.

Due to the adverse weather conditions the decision has been taken to cancel today’s go-ride coaching session.  Next week’s session will also not go ahead due to the coaches attending a conference.  Subject to the weather allowing we will return on Saturday 25th February.

Go-Ride Holiday Program

British Cycling are hosting a Holiday program at Birches Valley on Cannock Chase (postcode : WS15 2UQ).  The program takes place on 23rd and 24th February from 10am till 2pm.  The cost of the session are £5 per day for British Cycling Members and £7.50 per day for non-British Cycling.  The sessions are for ages 6 – 16 years old.

 

Riders will need a suitable off-road bike, helmet, drinks, lunch, warm clothing, water proofs and spare dry clothing.  Riders must be pre-booked onto the program.  In order to book onto the sessions or for further details, please contact Laura Ganderton by emailing Lauraganderton@britishcycling.org.uk

Go-Ride Coaching 4th February – Cancelled

Due to the club’s Go-Ride coaches being on a course, there will not be any coaching on Saturday 4th February.  Coaching will resume as usual on Saturday 11th February.

Go-Ride Coaching Cancelled

Due to the weather conditions there will be no official coaching session taking place on Saturday 14th January 2017 at the Tackeroo campsite.  We looking forward to running a session as normal on Saturday 21st January 2017.

 

Go-Ride Coaching Takes a Christmas Break

Stafford Road Club’s Go-Ride coaching is taking a well earned Christmas break.  Coaching will resume on Saturday 7th January 2017 at the Tackeroo Campsite, Cannock Chase.  The start time is 10:30am with the session costing £2 for members and £4 for non-members.

Thank you to all of the riders and parents who have made our sessions possible during 2016, we look forward to welcoming you in 2017.  Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Go-Ride Race Saturday 15th October

On Saturday 15th October, Stafford Road Club will host it’s final Go-Ride Race of the season.  The race will take place at the Tackeroo Campsite on Cannock Chase and will follow the usual format.  Sign-on will take place in the Tackeroo Campsite using one of the picnic tables.  Please be aware that sign-on will close at 10:15am to allow us to start the racing at 10:30am.  We aim to start the presentations at  11:30am.

There are no toilets or changing rooms on site, please bring drink and food for the session along with clothing suitable for the weather conditions on the day.  You must bring your own bike which needs to be safe to ride and a helmet with a CE Mark.  Gloves are also recommended.

The cost is £3 per rider.

Go-Ride Coaching – Change of Venue

On Saturday 15th October, Stafford Road Club host our final Go-Ride Race of the season at the Tackeroo Campsite on Cannock Chase.  As the nights are drawing in, Wednesday 21st September will be the last session at the Tackeroo on a Wednesday evening.

 

Saturday 24th September will remain at Rowley Park.  But on 1st and 8th October the Saturday morning coaching sessions will move to the Tackeroo to give more chance to coach off-road skills for the race session.

Go-Ride Summer of Cycling – Saturday 27th August 2016

Saturday 27th August sees Stafford Road Club’s Go-Ride team host an open day to showcase the sport of cycling and the events which they regularly organise.

The event is based at Milford Common and will start at 10am, drawing to a close at 1pm.  The Summer of cycling event is all about capturing a festival atmosphere and showing the community how much fun cycling is.  There will be lots of fun competitions taking place such as:

– Track Stand competition
– Turbo Challenge
– Rollers Challenge
– Limbo Challenge
– Slalom Race
– Bike Jenga
– Name the bike parts

This is a free event, open to all not just club members and is an excellent opportunity to show-off your skills on two wheels, or just meet the coaching team from the club.  There are lots of prizes on offer, so please come along and take part.

Go-Ride Off-Road Coaching 17th August

The regular Go-Ride off-road coaching will take place this evening at the Tackeroo Campsite.  Sign-on is at 6:15:pm ready for a 6:30pm start.  Cost is £2 for Road Club Members, £4 for non members.

Dec/Jan cycling events dates for junior JETs club #StaffordRC

Stafford RC junior Jets club is laying on some more dates for young riders over the Christmas period. These events are open to children between the age of 7 and 15 and you do not have to be a Jets member to take part.

The dates for the extra sessions are below. Our two new coaches will be coaching these sessions and the good news is parents can join in too. So if you want some coaching moms and dads you will be more than welcome.
These sessions are to enable both Julie and Paul to deliver 6 sessions each before their 3rd assessment day on the 6th Feb. Obviously weather permitting.

Cycle coaching in Stafford – Youngsters

What: Go-Ride coaching sessions

When: Saturday mornings, from 10:15

Where: Rowley Park

Stafford Road Club (SRC) Go-Ride coaching sessions for youngsters aged 7-15 started on Saturday morning, 28th February, in Rowley Park. The sessions are run under the British Cycling ‘Go-Ride’ banner and aim to give young riders general bike skills as well as the opportunity for competitive racing. All coaches are qualified to Level 2 in Cycle Coaching and fully covered by British Cycling for insurance and child protection. Sessions for 2015 will run weekly every Saturday through to October at Rowley Park and riders and parents should turn up at 10.15am to sign on.

JETS Awards

Go-Ride provides the first step onto the Performance Pathway – over 60% of riders on the Great Britain Cycling Team started out at Go-Ride Clubs. Stafford Road Club also have a dedicated youth section called JETS (Junior Expert Talent Squad), which gives access to additional events and coaching opportunities, for example British Cycling organised coaching at the new Derby Velodrome from March this year.
