Update from British Cycling on when cycling activities may comence again

Hello everyone

In case you have not seen it already, British Cycling have issued updated guidance today which extends the suspension of cycling activity beyond 30th June – see link below

https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/about/article/20200527-about-bc-news-Update–Suspension-of-sanctioned-cycling-activity-0

In a nutshell:

  1. International or national level racing suspended until 1st September
  2. Regional racing and non-competitive events (such as sportives) suspended until 1st August
  3. Club and group activity such as club rides suspended till 4th July

In all cases BC say they will review these suspensions on a fortnightly basis in the light of ongoing government guidance. They will give six weeks’ notice of changes to item 1) events above, four weeks for item 2) and two weeks for item 3). They also note that some disciplines or events may return ahead others if the format allows the safety of all to be managed appropriately.

There has not yet been a response from CTT but we will continue to monitor the CTT website for updates and inform you  appropriately.

In the mean time Stay Safe and keep your distance 🙂

Entries open for Stafford RC 9.5mile VR Time Trial on Saturday 18th April 11am

Following on from the success of last weeks event where we had over 25 riders compete from 13 different counties tomorrow at 11am I have scheduled another 9.5mile TT this time in Germany, flat route for those on Smart trainers 😊

Enter via this link https://my.rouvy.com/onlinerace/live/17377

Dominic Noone (Stafford RC) made the top 3 last week and let’s see if we can get another SRC rider on the podium this week.

I have set this TT event up so you can ride on any type of turbo and no need for a power meter or smart trainer, simply get Rouvy to detect your speed sensor and you in.

So hopefully see a few more of you tomorrow – Staying Safe at Home

 Fond Farewell

Stafford Road Club’s dear friend Bill Witworth sadly passed away this week and Stafford Road Club would like to send its condolences to all Bill’s friends and family.

Bill was more of a runner than a cyclist in his later years and was active in both Stafford RC committee and always remained so with Safford Harriers.  I remember Bill showing me photos and telling me stories about the events he used to organise between Stafford RC and the Harriers were riders and runners would race against each other cross country.

He was a great sportsman and will be dearly missed by everyone.

Stafford Road Cub has now cancelled all cycling events

Following government advice released today (16/3/20) Stafford Road Club has taken the decision to cancel all its planned cycling events until further notice.

There will be no official club rides and club Time Trials.

The Open Time Trial and Road  Race planned for May and Aug are also suspended until we are advised the current situation changes.

Stafford Road Club has taken this decision in an attempt to reduce any possible incidents that may require emergency services.

We hope you understand our decision and the reasoning behind it.

All the very best to you all from Stafford Road Club committee

Reliability Ride CANCELLED

Due to the adverse weather conditions we have been experiencing and heavy rain forecast in the early hours of Sunday morning Stafford Road Club has made the difficult decision to postpone its Reliability Ride planned for Sunday 23rd February.  The safety of all taking part is our priority and given the likely conditions we will now plan to reschedule this event for later in the year.

Thank you for all your continued support and we hope you will be able to come and join Stafford Road Club on one of the other events it runs throughout the year.

Reliability Ride CANCELLED

Stafford Road Club is moving and getting Social

This year we will see one major change for Stafford Road Club in that we will, as of the 1st of February be based at, and ride from, Perkins Social Club (google map).  For many years we have always met and run our events from Stafford Rugby Club but with their move to a new ground, increased hire costs, and facilities that do not fully meet our needs, the committee have made the decision to move to Perkins, which offers the club better facilities and at a price that fits our small annual budget.  After discussion with Perkins we received confirmation from their company this week that they are happy for Stafford Road Club to adopt Perkins Social Club as our base.

One direct benefit for our members is that as part of your Stafford Road Club membership subscription this year, we are arranging for all of our members to become members of Perkins Social Club which entitles you to use their bar and entertainment facilities (snooker, pool, darts) which are open 7 days a week.

As soon as I have more details and agreed the membership arrangements with Perkins Social Club I will be back in touch.
