La Marmotte |
| What can one say? The Daddy of them all, the Doyenne of
International Cyclosportives, this is the star in the calendar, the most
difficult one day event for amateur road cyclists in Europe and an out and
out one day favourite for Brits. The route traces a northerly course out
from Le Bourg dOisans (the town at the bottom of lAlpe dHuez) over the Col
de la Croix de Fer into the Maurienne valley, and then clockwise back to
Bourg via the Col de Telegraphe and the 2,600m+ Col du Galibier (by its far
harder northern side) - finishing with the ascent to the ski station at
lAlpe dHuez. Members Rating: 9/10 |

Etape Du Tour |
| Every serious cyclosportive rider should enter the Etape
once. Regrettably, the quota of British entries (allocated to specific
travel companies) is quickly taken up, and if you dont have an entry by
Christmas (the route is announced in late October) youll probably be
disappointed. The 165km course will tackle the Col du Tourmalet via la
Mongie, a climb of more than 17 km at a 7.5% gradient, culminating in the
ascent of Hautacam, a climb of 14 km at a 7.2% gradient. Members Rating: 9/10 |

Tour Of Flanders (De Ronde van Vlaanderen) |
| The Tour of Flanders (De Ronde van Vlaanderen ) is without
a doubt one of the biggest sporting events in Belgium. On the day before,

atmosphere at this biking event. The ultimate challenge is to cover the 260
kilometres that the professionals will have completed one day later. But you
can also get to know the 140- and 75-kilometre loops together with some
pretty tough hills.
